Peter Mettler's "The End of Time"

Join us Sunday June 16 when we attend the Roxie Theater to see one of the highlights of this year's SF Documentary Festival, Canadian director Peter Mettler's The End of Time.

"With stunning cinematography and a knack for capturing astonishing moments, The End of Time travels the world from the CERN particle accelerator to the lava flows of Hawaii; from Henry Ford’s first factory to the tree where Buddha was enlightened. Both mind-expanding and eerily familiar, Mettler explores renewal and destruction, primordial mysticism and the furthest reaches of modern science for a transcendent cinematic experience."

"Recalls the work of Terrence Malick, Werner Herzog and the late Chris Marker" --Hollywood Reporter

The opening segment on the CERN particle accelerator was fascinating. There was also some memorable footage of Detroit. This film, however, did not explore any topic in depth, nor did it manage to tie its various narrative strands together. The filmmaker's views, expressed in offscreen narration, seemed a bit naive and underdeveloped.

Interesting and broad theme with beautiful visuals and soundtrack, could have used a bit of editing.
