  • February 14, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • Rochester Public Library

Special presenter this month will be Jamie Mahlberg.

Jamie  received her master's degree in social psychology from the University of Northern Iowa with thesis research focusing on male sexual jealousy.

She has been teaching psychology at RCTC since 2007, including a course on evolution and human behavior.

Has also taught the Evolutionary Psychology course for St. Mary's University here in Rochester.

Info on Jamie's presentation for RAFT follows:

Title: "What's love got to do with it?" Evolution, Sexual Selection, and Attraction."

Brief synopsis: Natural selection requires that people pass genes into future generations, yet men and women evolved different strategies to do this. This short presentation will explore those strategies and discuss why men and women "love" certain qualities in the opposite sex when selecting a long-term partner.
