Crew Clinic 2009
RSOC Trip #BT0901
June 5 - 7, 2009

NEWSFLASH - Crew Clinic back by popular demand!
Thanks to all who completed our survey and provided all of the positive feedback, which helped to confirm that Crew Clinic must go on!
This annual trip to scenic Oriental NC, with our long-time friends from the Neuse Sailing Association, will provide you with an opportunity to learn some basic sailing skills, or to just kick back and relax as a guest aboard a medium to large sailboat.
Plan to arrive in Oriental (~3 hour drive from Raleigh) on Friday afternoon if at all possible.
Friday night will kick off with registration and a Welcome Party at the Tiki Bar.
The party will feature live music from Dave Collins (good, local one-man band that we heard a few years back), along with a yet to be finalized ice-breaker type social activity (cash bar).
Saturday morning, you’ll meet your Captain at the Tiki Bar after breakfast and head to your boat.
We’ll have a new option for 2009 - for those who may prefer the rumble of diesels to the music of the wind, we expect to have one or more power boats available (larger cabin-cruiser type, not ski boats). Sailing / Boating on Saturday (weather permitting) with the traditional group raft-up for lunch (provide your own food & beverage).
On Saturday night, we’ll walk down to the Yacht Club for dinner (included in price / menu TBD).
After dinner, hang out on the deck at the Yacht Club and dance to the music of The Soul Shakers.
On Sunday, we’ll start the day off with our new tradition - a Bloody Mary party on the deck, then head to the boats for a fun race around the marks before we head home to Raleigh. The race will be from ~11 a.m. to 2 p.m to get you back home in plenty of time to get ready for Monday.
A pre-trip party (date & location TBA) will be held to choose boats, distribute information, arrange carpools, etc.
Note that the trip price does not include lodging. Rooms have been blocked at the Oriental Marina (one & two bedroom condos with kitchenette). Please call them soon to reserve your choice of room as they will be released to the general public several weeks prior to the trip. The Marina is offering a 10% discount if booked prior to May 1st – be sure to mention that you’re coming for Crew Clinic to get the reduced rate. Finally, if you’ve not been to Crew Clinic in prior years, be sure to come to the May 12th RSOC meeting for a short presentation and to see what you’ve been missing!

Trip Price: $115 for Meetup Members / $100 for current RSOC Members when paying by check or when signing up on the RSOC Website.)

I enjoyed myself on the "Cool Change", I appreciate NSA hospitality, loved Oriental, did not think it was near as good as last year though...dinner was not special, nor was the Sunday morning get together, it was only 30 minutes and we were rush out of Tiki Bar. Just my thoughts...would I go again? yep! CFitch
