Objective-C for Rubyists

If you program in Ruby, chances are you use it all the time without ever being aware of it: Objective-C. It is the language that powers Mac OSX and iPhone OS. It is the only language for building native iPhone OS applications. And while it is a statically-typed language, Objective-C has many similarities to Ruby that can make learning it a lot easier. In this talk I'll walk us through a little history, the reasons why we might want to learn Objective-C, the similarities and differences to Ruby, and dig into some Objective-C code.

Bio:
Steve Iannopollo is a chemist turned programmer, going on 3 years. He was fortunate enough by the grace of God to learn Ruby in a test-driven and object-oriented manner, and writes really crappy code if he doesn't do either of those. He finds talking about himself in the third person kind of strange, but is starting to like it. His blog languishes away at http://iannopollo.com..., and he tweets often as @siannopollo.
