__Riak & Ripple__
Riak is the hot new “NoSQL” database from Basho that scales like the Web using 100% organic free-range Unicorns. ActiveModel is the hot new framework in Rails 3 that extracts the best parts of ActiveRecord. Put them together and you’ve got Ripple, the fully-loaded Ruby client and modeling library for Riak.
Kevin Smith and Sean Cribbs will talk about how Riak works, why you might want to choose Riak, and how to use Ripple as your own persistence layer.
Bios:
Sean Cribbs returned to programming in 2006 after three years as a professional musician, instantly fell in love with Ruby, and has been crafting web applications with Rails ever since. Sean recently joined Basho Technologies, Inc., where he codes and provides support for Riak, the Internet-scale database. An active open-source author and contributor, he also served as lead developer and release manager of Radiant CMS from 2008 to 2010.
Kevin Smith has, at various times, been a network administrator, DBA, developer, team lead and trainer over his 14 year career. He first learned about Erlang in 2006 via Joe Armstrong's excellent book and has never looked back. Until recently Kevin was the founder and operator of Hypothetical Labs, an Erlang focused consultancy. Kevin is now a senior member of the development team at Basho Technologies where he works daily to make Riak the best datastore possible.
Actually, "Riak" means "Ripple" in Indonesian, and is indicative of how operations work in the cluster.

Wondering if this was the inspiration for the name "Ripple" ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-end_fortified_wine
