There are two kinds of people in this world: Leaders and followers - this is your opportunity to become a leader.
Would you like to plan and lead your own trips with us?
If so, then the AMC Boston Chapter's Outdoor Leadership Training is a great place to start. I took this class several years ago and I often refer back to the information and materials that were part of the program. So far more than two dozen of the Random Group's organizers have completed this course and are active leaders with both our group and the AMC.
While you can use this event listing to communicate with other randomites who are going you need to officially register for this program with the AMC.
Here is the link to register with the AMC:
About the Program
This is a great way to learn more about putting together and leading your own trips - whether it's with the Random Group, the AMC, or just a bunch of your friends.
The program consists of lectures, small group exercises and role-plays spread over two evening sessions and one weekend session. Topics include trip planning and trip organization, safety, leadership styles, and group dynamics. The program emphasizes experiential learning and decision making skills.
The two evening sessions are Tuesday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 29 from 6:45 pm - 9:30 pm, and take place at the AMC Cabot Auditorium (4 Joy Street, Boston, MA). The weekend session is November 8-10 (beginning 7:00 pm on Friday and ending by 4:00 pm on Sunday) at Camp Lyndon in Sandwich, MA. You must attend all sessions of the program in order to complete it.
The $59 registration fee covers training, materials, weekend lodging and meals (except lunches). Space is limited so if you want to go you should register as soon as you can since this program always fills up.
I will be helping teach this program. If you have any questions you can send me a note or give me a call.
