Lighten That Pack - Potluck, Slideshow, and Gear Demonstration

6:15 Doors Open ... 6:30 PM Potluck ... 7:15 PM Slideshow & Gear Demonstration

Are you ready to let go of the extra gear/weight in your backpack for lighter, longer, more enjoyable day hikes or backpacking trips this summer? Or do you find yourself saying, "but I neeeed this”, when packing extra sets of nearly everything in your backpack?

Join Appalachian Mountain Club Leaders Julie LePage and Philip Werner as they offer tips on overcoming the obstacles to hiking lighter, what the tradeoffs are to carrying less, and guidance on packing lighter & smarter, so you can enjoy your time in the woods even more. We’ll have a well-stocked auditorium of lightweight gear for show & tell & touch, as well as resources on "MacGyvering" your own lightweight items for less.

Potluck Info: If you wish to participate in the potluck, homemade dishes are welcome, store bought goodies & takeout are equally welcome:) Plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, napkins and drink pitchers will be supplied. The auditorium has a kitchen if you need to do any re-warming or prep (w/stovetop, oven, microwave, sink & fridge). Please bring your own cooking pots if needed for stovetop.

Use the comment section to let us know if you plan to participate in the potluck.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
