I started hiking officially as a boyscout, and later as an explorer scout. I've done some trekking where I grew up in the Catskills around the upper Delaware River, Camp Ranachqua in ten mile river, the Adirondaks near Speculator and Warrensburg, While stationed abroad in the US Navy I had opportunites for brief hikes in Grazalema Spain and Rhonda, hiked a portion of Mount Sinai in Egypt and did some short hikes to Mount Eboshi in Sasebo Japan..
I like day hikes
I enjoy being outdoors
Most difficult hike that I'd ever made was being deprived of food for about 30 hours for a wilderness survival merit badge and undertaking a forced march for over 20 miles in and out of the area where we had to set up camp overnight with not even a standard hiking knife or fire starter allowed to be taken with us.
No recent experience. Used to be a patrol leader for troop 110 in the Mid-Hudson council and was a river canoe guide on the upper Delaware many moons ago.
