Hi, I live in Quincy and hike for about as long as I can walk, having grown up not too far from the German and Austrian Alps. Accordingly I like trips that are physically demanding
Currently hiking several times a week in the Blue Hills Reservation, which is very close to where I live
Fast paced with hilly terrain. I respect nature, so off trail and disturbing / damaging isn't my style. Leave footprints and take memories - minimal disturbance of nature
Clearing my mind and working my body, get some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of nature
Probably a hike in fall 2009 over some peaks near the German/Austrian border. Didn't use GPS, but must have been 15+ miles between 4000 and 7000ft above sea level. It was tough because I hadn't hiked in years. Much higher fitness level now
No leadership experience, yet I usually pay close attention to all members and if anyone falls behind. I'm frequently away on travels and still try getting to know the area, so not yet comfortable with leading in unknown terrain - but I tend to stick around and maybe in several months …
Thanks for the great hike on Xmas Eve, Jurgen. I was waiting for the chance to write a nice review, but I guess that won't happen because it was officially cancelled. Anyway, it was one of my all-time favorites. Thanks.
Thanks for joining! And yes, I highly appreciate a good scotch (Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities in the world). We'll be having our first meet up in the next two weeks, I hope to see you there.
