Dad took us up Mt. Monadnock at 8 or 9 and I was hooked. Climbed Washington x3, twice in winter in HS. Used to climb, hike, winter backpack and backcountry ski camp in Oregon during my college years. Finished the Adirondak 46er a bunch of years ago in my summers and still go up there every summer. Last year I was rowing competitively which helped get me up mountains. Having a great time getting back into weekend outings, love to climb.
I like adventures, unusual trips, bushwacking, rough terrain, elevation, above or at the tree line. Like overnight trips, but not multiple days without a hut or warm shower at some point.
Getting back out and up in elevation. Regaining some conditioning and endurance. Getting above it all, while getting close to others. Friendships.
Now that I think about it, in college we did a backcounty skiing, winter traverse of the Three Sisters in Oregon. 50lbs backpack on skis, two nights 20-30 miles at in heavy Oregon oatmeal snow. Lots of terrain and faceplants!
Yes, in college, but I don't know the Whites very well. Need to follow for a while.
I'm a single father with two boys, 10 and 13, a psychotherapist, city dweller, who likes to get outdoors and adventure. I ride to work every day and I no longer own a car, but I'm a great travel companion.
