Volunteer Opportunity: Challenge Air Fly Day

Please join me for one of the most magical experiences you will ever have in your life!! I will be posting many more volunteer events very soon but rsvp for this one asap or today for a day that will leave your heart full of hope and inspiration!!

Please note this is a combined event with http://www.meetup.com... so please when you rsvp please state if you have already left rsvp on both pages so we have an accurate head count.

Saturday, March 7, All day long we will need volunteers and have shifts starting at 7am

For Challenge Air's children with disabilities or serious illnesses, Fly Days make possibilities open up like the endless sky. What a life-changing travel experience at 1,500 feet in the air the children will take the controls and fly the airplane themselves and see that everything in life is possible.

We will take volunteers in shifts to be determined soon. Challenge Air is requesting assistance with event set-up and break-down, registration, serving breakfast and lunch, attendants for bounce houses, crafts, face painting, etc. and most importantly each pilot will be assigned a team of three "Loaders" whose task it is to escort them to and from the plane, safely load and unload the children on the plane, and post flight escort them back to the red carpet cheer line where they are presented with their wings. Presently they have 30 pilots and they plan to have 100 children attend and we are setting our intentions for more.

If you have a special needs child or know of one that would enjoy this event please complete the registration form on the Challenge Air website and invite them to our group. (Challenge Air Participant Registration)

If you are planning to attend this meet-up please complete the Volunteer registration form on the Challenge Air website to provide them with an accurate headcount. All volunteers will attend a presentation and then will break out into smaller groups for task specific orientation.

You must register as a volunteer at their website.....

Indicate that you are with Random Acts Of Kindness from meetup during the registration process.

Please contact me here if you have any questions. I hope that you will be as excited as I am to participate in making these kids' dreams come true.

Challenge Air Pilot Theron Wright explains, "Once we get up to altitude and turn the controls over to the children we ask, 'If you can fly this plane what can't you do?" But it's in the air that the transformation takes place. Once up to altitude it is the time for the child spread their wings in ways most never thought possible. The volunteer Challenge Air pilot assumes co-pilot status while the youngster takes over piloting the aircraft. Suddenly Theron's question becomes their own. "If I can fly this plane, what is there that can't I do?"

Pilot Theron Wright measures success in smiles-per-mile. He and his colleagues at Challenge Air have logged more than 3,500 smiles with their unique approach to opening new vistas for children with disabilities. As their Ground Crew...let's measure our success in smiles-per-hour!
