The Seagoville Shelter is a small, rural shelter (20 min. from S. Dallas) that is striving to achieve "no kill" status which is challenging because they're overcrowded, underfunded & need to increase awareness for their adoptable animals. With only a $15k budget each year, they take in 1300 pets annually & are desperate for voluntee r assistance to give the pets the care & socialization they deserve! Most kennels have 2 dogs per cage & it's tough cleaning when there is nowhere else to put them. That's where we come in w/ walking them, advertising this event or the pets by sharing on Facebook, etc!

This Saturday, the Seagoville Shelter is hosting "The Dog Days of Summer" adoption event & fun fair to increase traffic to the shelter, raise funds for a bigger facility & to get some animals adopted. They need our help with the following things (kids 15 and up may volunteer - any age welcome at the adoption event):

  • giving the pooches a walk and the 18 cats in the kitten room a little TLC (You can start as early as 7am - Jill will be there, but let them know you're coming that early please.)
  • assist with the raffles, games & donation jars
  • greet and welcome prospective adopters and kids who want to play the games
  • set up at 8:30am and tear down at 4:00pm

The event will be open to the public from 10:00am to 4:00pm. We will come in shifts:

  • SHIFT 1: Event staff /set up helpers/dog-walkers/cat cuddlers - 8:30am- 12:30pm
  • SHIFT 2: Event staff /set up helpers/dog-walkers/cat cuddlers - 12:30pm- 4:00pm

If you need to come somewhere in between - NO PROBLEM! Any help during the day would be greatly appreciated! We just need to give them a reliable # of volunteers they can depend on!
