Do you like hugs - in fact do you LOVE hugs? Yes? Come and join us, grab yourself a t-shirt and give away free hugs on the streets of London, or Richmond or Brighton, or Sheffield, or Glasgow, in fact anywhere you happen to be. Random Huggers began in 2004 and every year since groups of wonderful human beings have been gathering to offer strangers a free hug and see the smiles and laughter appear. It's especially poignant when you hug someone who hasn't had a good hug for a long time - very moving! You begin to realise how such a simple thing as a really good hug, given with love, can make a huge difference to others. The website is www.randomhuggers.com
What happens? Choose a venue you want to hug at and put it in your diary, you'll find venues either on Meetup or on www.randomhuggers.com; buy your t-shirt from the website or directly from Mayella, and of course tell all your friends to join you.
On the day you've chosen, wear your t-shirt and meet the coordinator / HRH (Head Random Hugger :)), who will give you some hug training - I know you don't need training in how to hug, but you'll be surprised, hugging strangers takes something else! The HRH will go over our ethos and guidelines, give you a bundle of stickers, which you give to people once you've hugged them (the stickers say 'I've been randomly hugged'), then you're ready to go and step outside your comfort zone, with open welcoming arms!
I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
