I think the restaurant idea is great!! I think Squirrel Hill or South Side would be two very good places to consider .
Don't know if you are familiar with the Zenith Room on the South Side but they are a vegan and raw foods rest. and seem to do quite well, particularly on Sun. for brunch where there is usually a fairly long line outside. To say it lacks ambiance is an understatement but the food is great. So there is a following for this type of food on the S.S.

I think it's a wonderful idea, Heather. Good luck!

Hello Raw Foods group!
I'm really glad I found this group, I'm just starting out on
the raw foods lifestyle with a couple of my friends, and I
think it will help to have people with more experience in the
area to meet up with. I feel that this is the healthiest way
to eat, and science should have been leading the food industry
to this all along, not with the food substitutes, chemicals,
and non-foods that are on most of the shelves in stores. I'm
seriously considering opening an eatery in the area, and I
wanted your opinion. I want to focus on three aspects: gluten
free baked goods, vegan cooked foods, and raw vegan foods.
I may toss out the vegan cooked foods, I was just trying to include
a friend in the idea who loves to cook, but I'm leaning towards
that element not really fitting.
I do want to at least distribute gluten
free baked goods, if not create then there, because that's how I
started my journey, and I feel there is a lack of gf resources in the
area. I was thinking Sewickley, but am open to
other ideas. What do you think?
