Ahh, I'd love for there to be a live food cafe in Pittsburgh.  I'm with Taylor on the location... stick with someplace people can/would bike to.  The 'burbs aren't ready for super conscious nutrition... they want the option but won't always choose it.

Keep in mind not even Cafe Gratitude (http://www.cafegratitude.com/), Pure Food and Wine (http://www.oneluckyduck.com/purefoodandwine/) or Au Lac (http://www.aulac.com/livingfoodfixed.html) are 100% organic.

Ewewhon is awesome and the tonic bar there is what it is because of Truth Caulkins (master alchemist).

I can connect you to Jody and Joey Allen who had Loving LIfe Cafe (http://www.lovinglifecafe.com/new/).  They closed it down to remodel/relocate and never reopened the doors.  I'm sure they'd have some handy tips of advice and might even be interested in guest cheffing.

I'm new to PGH... why did the raw restaurant that was here close the doors?

great idea

don't like the Sewickley location

would never go there

and I am guessing nor would most

best to be in east end of city or there a bouts

mostly we really need a organic greens smoothie, juice bar, tonic bar....see

ewewhon in LA for ideas

must be all organic all the time... and local foods when possible is key

would coordinate with local farmers and someone with a green house

to supply food thru the winter months...

I have had several veg restaurants here...and its time for a really great

upscale i.e. beautiful raw one now!!

needs to be super clean, super conscious, and all organic....

good luck

Hello Raw Foods group!

I'm really glad I found this group, I'm just starting out on

the raw foods lifestyle with a couple of my friends, and I

think it will help to have people with more experience in the

area to meet up with.  I feel that this is the healthiest way

to eat, and science should have been leading the food industry

to this all along, not with the food substitutes, chemicals,

and non-foods that are on most of the shelves in stores.  I'm

seriously considering opening an eatery in the area, and I

wanted your opinion.  I want to focus on three aspects: gluten

free baked goods, vegan cooked foods, and raw vegan foods.

I may toss out the vegan cooked foods, I was just trying to include

a friend in the idea who loves to cook, but I'm leaning towards

that element not really fitting.  I do want to at least distribute gluten

free baked goods, if not create then there, because that's how I

started my journey, and I feel there is a lack of gf resources in the

area.  I was thinking Sewickley, but am open to

other ideas.  What do you think?

Thanks!
