Introduction

Moved from Maryland last August where I played weekly for a couple of hours. But have been unable to hookup here in Raleigh b/c been so busy with relocation issues. But things settling down now and I need to play before a become a couch potato.

What is your NTRP playing level (http://tiny.cc/ntrp)? Beginner: 1.5-2.0. Most players: 2.5-3.5. Skilled: 4.0+

Self rated at 3.2 - 3.3. Will improve with consistent play.

What would you like to do in this meetup?

Play tennis, chat a bit and play tennis chat a bit, maybe grab a drink. WHAT DO I LOVE ABOUT THE GAME: That is a loaded question. I grew up around tennis. I'm from Salisbury Maryland and way back in the 1960's the U.S. National Indoors Tennis Tournament was played there. I watched the likes of Ille Nastasi, Jimmy Connors, Stan Smith, Jan Kodes and others play up close. Kodes actually stayed in my house during the tournament. I may not have ever won The Davis Cup but I have the distinction of actually standing in it. I have a picture to prove it! :) I was too young to be a ball (CONTINUED IN NEXT FIELD)

What do you love about the game?

boy but would have if I could have. I played on my high school team, but after that I didn't play for YEARS. When I got back into the game I had missed all the evolution around the game such as "ratings", excessive use of spin, the complexity of racquet/string issues. In other words I basically sat out the 1980s-1990s playing just enough to keep my game on life support. I began with a wooden jack kramer signature and later a wooden Dunlop Maxply. :(. For example my game does not have significant topspin or a kick serve. But EVERYBODY today plays with topspin, or the kick serve. Technically speaking I love the serve, serve and volley, net play and baseline rally's in that order.
