Update 8/26 - Paul indicates that he will try to stay with us for the entire 2 hours so this will be a unique opportunity to get everybody's questions and points heard and explored in depth.
We are delighted to have nationally-known options author and advisor Paul Forchione give us a presentation and dialogue on choosing options strategies for your markets.
Our speaker will talk to us from California, sharing his screen, which we will project. We will also have two-way audio via the sound system and a portable microphone, and the opportunity for lots of interaction with our audience. Everyone will be able to ask questions or make comments. (We have had remote speakers on a number of occasions and it has worked perfectly).
Paul will use OptionVue to look closely at a number of popular markets including the S&P Emini, Crude, the Euro, and 30-year Treasury Bonds, and what options strategies may be suitable to trade each of them under current market conditions.
In going through these markets one by one, he will explain why he might choose a given strategy in each case, and thereby, along the way, cover examples of diagonal calendar spreads, butterflies and broken-wing butterflies, iron butterflies, vertical swaps, and strangle swaps.
He provides quidelines on how the unique delta, theta, vega etc. behavior of the different strategies suggest their applicability to current markets in extremely concrete terms.
Paul has been a Comodity Trading Advisor and national Options Strategist for a brokerage firm, having earlier been a CBOE Market Maker, and was a broker for 17 years, so he has a unique knowledge and perspective on when clients succeed (and also how they fail) in trading options. We will be sure to ask him about that aspect also - who wins and who loses - since he has seen it all!
In a preliminary discussion, Paul was very candid that most options traders fail - we will follow up with him during the meeting on that important aspect and try to get to the bottom of who succeeds and who fails, and how people can succeed despite the challenges.
Paul especially likes futures options, but is also fully familiar with stock and ETF options and can address those as well.
Showing current market charts and possible trades during the talk is fairly rare in my experience, so this will be a great opportunity. I can tell you that Paul is an exceptionally clear and precise speaker, so I strongly recommend this talk to everyone.
Paul's website is http://theaceprogram.com/ or http://www.tradingoptionsvisually.com/ and you can see Paul's books listed there. He is now fully independent and offering consulting services to individual traders remotely.
