Real Food Tulsa is delighted to announce a very special event for our November meetup:

The evening of Sunday, November 2nd, Tim VanOrden, aka the Raw Runner, will be giving a dynamic lecture presentation at Tulsa's unique University Club Tower. Tim is an internationally known raw foodist and Olympic level athlete and it's a true honor that he has chosen Tulsa as one of his stops while he's on tour. Tim has been experimenting with what's possible in the world of physical performance since 2005 and he's been sharing his journey all along the way. Here's your opportunity to meet Tim and see how he's thrived on a raw food diet while being an athlete.

I've had the opportunity to speak with Tim several times and I couldn't be more excited about this event. Tim has the heart of a teacher, the mind of a true scientist and the fitness of a healthy 20 year old, although he just celebrated his 40th birthday. Tim's reputation, gentle spirit, infectious sense of humor and dynamic message will certainly draw a crowd from outside of the raw community. This will be a great opportunity to create interest and educate others.

At 5 pm, I'd like to offer a raw food tasting (sophisticated name for potluck :- ) If you are able to bring a raw food dish to share, please do so. Tim will be joining us for this and he will begin his lecture at some point before 6 pm. It's important to be in the building before 6 pm because the doors to University Club are locked to the general public at that time for security reasons. Being on time will ensure that you don't miss anything!

There are numerous videos throughout the internet featuring Tim, but here's one of my favorites of Tim making his morning Running Raw green smoothie.

To your glowing health!

The venue was beautifully located downtown with a river front view, more than adequate for the number of people and very nice. Penni brought her special homey touch of fall to the decor and it was pleasantly diverse with tables, couches, and rows of chairs for choices of seating. We began on time and everyone was free to leave whenever they desired. The taste testing was such fun with a wonderful variety of choices and plenty to go around. Tim did a great job of sharing what he has found to be very important concepts in his raw food journey, and allowed everyone ample opportunity to get their questions answered. Many questions were asked during his presentation rather than waiting until the end. He did a great job of gently answering them and notes were made concerning the direction the group seemed to want to go. I'm confident that this information will guide future events so that the needs of the group will be addressed. Thank you to Penni and all who helped in any way.

Thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and look forward to attending more meetings.
    •  I really enjoyed tasting all the different food, although there wasn't quite enough, especially the s'mores. I was impressed with Tim VanOrden, his testimony and enthusiasum was inspiring. In listening to some of the questons, I felt there needed to be a little more explanation of how to transition into raw food, because not everyone is in a life threatening situation like Tim, and also, what might be expected in the way of cleansing reactions. All in all, he gave out a lot of wonderful information., and I have been inspired to make some more changes toward more raw. I would have felt more comfortable if he had dismissed the meeting at some point and then allowed those that wanted to stay for questions to do so. I am grateful to have been there.

The evening was very informative and interesting. It helped me to further understand the raw food lifestyle. I really enjoyed it. Further, it encouraged my daughter to pursue the raw food lifestyle, something I was having limited success with.

Tim was fantastic! The raw food sampling was great. Tim spoken for about 2 hours and also answered people questions after his lecture. Thanks Penni for arranging for Tim to speak at the Tulsa Raw Food Meet up.
    •  Amazing! I learned so much.
    •  Tim was a great speaker, very knowledgeable and good fellowship. Thanks, Penni!
    •  Presentation could have been more concise, but the material was informative. Worth attending for anyone interested in learning more about why they'd benefit from going to a cleaner diet. The potluck beforehand was fun so we could see what food ideas others had.
