Join us for a beautiful morning of soccer and support the NYC Galacticos!
Our Penya Real Madrid NYC Soccer Team will participate in a Charity Supporters Club tournament for the Downtown United Soccer Club on October 10th, 2009.
The Downtown United Soccer Club is a non-profit organization that gives financially underprivileged kids in the city the opportunity to play football at an organized level. The tournament will be held at Pier 40 from 9am to roughly around 1:00pm along side a DUSC children's tournament at Pier 40. The tournament will be represented by supporters clubs and teams from all over New York City featuring clubs representing:
-Liverpool Football Club
-Aston Villa Football Club
-Celtic Football Club
-Everton Football Club / Mr. Dennehy's Bar & Grill
-Real Madrid Football Club
-New York Red Bulls Football Club
-DUSC Dads Football Club
With the great success of the charity friendly between LFCNY and NY Rangers last year which raised over $5,000 with the match along with raffles with signed items provided from LFC and Rangers FC directly, LFCNY and DUSC would like to help this tournament grown to an annual event to support the New York area youth on a grassroots level along with building a better network between supporters clubs around the NYC area.
After the tournament, players and supporters will be meeting at Mr. Dennehy's Bar & Grill on Carmine Street for postmatch drinks and conversation.
Our boys have been training very hard the last couple of weeks to represent our club in this event, so please help us make this event a great success and come out to support the NYC Galacticos and the game of football on October 10th!
And yes, you do not need to show up at 9 am, the event will run until 1 pm and then we go for drinks to Mr. Dennehy's so you can join us in the semis or the final, which we expect to reach ;)
But if you do show up at 9AM we'll be extremely thankful ;-)
I think my parents want to come. I'll ask my mom to make some cookies. But they might change their mind, who knows.
I really hope I can make it - I have not been feeling well all day and I am either on to the flu or will be OK by the morning...if all is well, I hope to be there at 9AM sharp...if I can figure out how to get to there since the train doesn't run on the weekends from my house until November since they are doing construction! I can't believe I will have to miss the Spain game :( after I got SR4's tattoo today!
Sorry everyone, I am so sorry I didn't make it - As I feared, I woke up with 101 degrees fever, barely made it to my kitchen to get 2 Advil and stumbled back into bed to wake up to Fabregas' goal...

Anyone who comes out, you're support is greatly appreciated! So far the weather isn't horrible either. Cloudy, very small chance of showers at the moment so should be a good time. Oh and we're all doing post game drinks so you have to come for that!
