This year Gift of Giving will be held at the Adventuredome in Circus Circus (although everyone will depart and arrive by bus from the Child Focus office).
Please contact Service Project Chair Kelly Thompson directly to sign up for this event. If this is your first time volunteering with Child Focus, you will need to complete an application and submit to a background check.
Child Focus is a 501c3 non-profit agency that connects separated siblings in foster care, providing opportunities for them to heal, grow and maintain their sibling bond during a very difficult chapter in their lives. It is our vision to preserve siblings’ fundamental right to feel safe, loved and have a sense of belonging, inspiring them to become compassionate, responsible adults and ultimately stop the generational cycle of abuse and neglect. We are proud to continuously connect over 300 separated siblings in foster care each year, providing critical sibling bonding time, clinical case management to help them cope with life in foster care, and experiential workshops to help them grow into successful independent adults.
Gift of Giving - This event has been specifically designed to help local foster children reunite with their brothers and sisters to enjoy a day of festivities and creating a lifetime of shared memories. These siblings who experience separation while in foster care will enjoy activities including “shopping” at the Child Focus Store (stocked with gifts from the wish list of their sibling), gift wrapping, ornament and cookie decorating stations and games. Afterwards, each sibling group will meet Santa and get their picture taken, followed by a festive meal. Gifts will be exchanged during dinner.
