Happy New Year!
Hope you enjoyed the holiday break with your family and friends.
The Meetup co-organizers, Jeff Mackey, Nick DeNardis, and Deborah Edwards-Onoro, have been discussing how to improve Refresh Detroit events for 2014 and beyond. We have a number of exciting meetups planned for this year, and we want to make sure you are all a part of it.
A few things for you to know:
We are still planning to have many, if not all, meetups within Detroit. We thank Grand Circus for their generosity, and will continue to utilize their space. Additionally, we have been reaching out to other businesses and venues for additional meetup location options.
We would like to have a good mix of meetups that are speaker/Q&A focused, but also have some meetings that are more casual in nature -- meetings that are focused on discussions around a specific technology, tool, or business topic.
If you would like to present, know someone you think would provide a great presentation for our group, or have another idea in mind, give us a shout and let us know! Some example topics we're all interested in:
CSS preprocessors, web design , client management, information architecture, content strategy, web application/website case study, project management, pricing projects, Rails, jQuery, productivity tools, legal issues for businesses, etc.
Beginning with the January 2014 meetup event, there will be a $5.00 registration fee for each event, payable when registering online. Refunds are made available in the event a planned event is cancelled.
The fees will be used for, among other things, to cover costs for using the online Meetup site, venues, refreshments, and other administrative items.
Nick, Deborah, and Jeff want to get more of our members involved with the meetups and want to encourage you to get to know each other.
Expect more info about the January 2014 meetup soon!
