"Sniffing" for Bad Code: Rebecca Murphey Presents JS Minty Fresh

Maybe you've inherited some smelly code, or maybe you've written some yourself, rushing to get a feature out the door knowing that you're leaving yourself a mess to clean up later.

No matter how you end up with smelly code, eliminating smells is an important step toward making code easier to work with -- for you and your fellow developers -- reducing opportunities for introducing bugs, and making your code easier to test. Heck, it can even help you get a new job.

In this talk with Rebecca Murphey, we'll look at some common code smells and how to address them; along the way, we'll take a peek at templates, deferreds, promises, and other techniques that can help you tidy up your JavaScript.

Rebecca is such a skilled speaker that I think she could make any subject interesting. It was a good time.

I always learn something from meetups and this was no exception. Rebecca is an excellent speaker. She is able to hold your interest for the entire presentation. She has the talent to make you feel comfortable with the material she is presenting. She understands the limits on time and the amount of material that can be absorbed by the audience. She gave good examples and something for me to take back and put in use. I enjoyed it very much.

Hi Danny - I'm speaking with DZone this week about potentially using a space large enough for 50 people, so I will keep everyone posted. And Yes - DZone is recording and broadcasting the presentation through their website. Thanks!

Hi Danny, since we've moved to a larger conference room we've lost the ability to live broadcast. DZone is still recording the Meet Up though, and will have a video posted on the site next day. We'll share the link with everyone as soon as it's published. Hope you can make it - I've seen a lot of RSVP updates today. Thanks agan for your interest!
