The Yin-Yang of the Cloud: Hyperlocal and Big Data

Our topics for the meeting include two of the hottest areas of the internet today: Hyperlocal and Big Data.

To respect the time of all members, the initial meetup featured presentation will be the members and introductions. This will be followed by two business presentations.

First representing the Hyperlocal is  Mike Shapiro Founder of The Alternative Press who will give a brief presentation on starting TAP. He will give a first hand account of the explosive growth of hyperlocal. TAP is currently in 50 NJ towns and expanding every week. He will outline Tap's expansion plans including current licensing opportunities to entrepreneurial journalists who would like to start a digital newspaper in their own Somerset County Town, using the TAP site, business model and expertise. See the Video about TAP.

Next representing Big Data is Dr. Dwight Irving, Phd of DataBanker. Some of Dwight's insights can be found on his blog Sociacall. Dwight will be focusing on Big Data, Privacy Issues and the things you should know that you may not want to hear.

Are you a Start up seeking an Angel? Are you an Entrepreneur or an Angel who has successfully exited a firm? Or do you offer a unique service or product?

We are accepting suggestions for presenters and scheduling for the upcoming months.

Future events (last Wednesday of every month) will follow a similar format but will also include a Featured Presenter.

All events will be held  at the Verve in downtown Somerville.

It will be held in their Soho inspired upstairs Lounge which features vintage New York style, wide screen flat panel TVs and all the amenities needed to host a fantastic party or corporate event.

Attendees are free to stay all evening or meet up for an amazing dinner in advance.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
