June Meetup Topic - Turning Your Idea into a Business

On March 1, 2013 four guys met for the first time at a Lean Startup competition.  None of them, even the guy that originally pitched the idea, had any idea that 72 hours later they would have inked a deal for a distribution channel, gotten a letter of intent from one angel investor and a verbal commitment from another and not only had they won the competition but that they had started selling product as “C” level executives of a snack food company.  Mark Annett, the Product and Vision Guy from SnackBuilder will be walking you through their journey.

Our Second presentation will be on the project code named - Cloud Corridor. We will get into details as to what private funded efforts are being made to return New Jersey to the lead Innovation State. This presentation will cover the national venture scene, contrast the East Coast vs West Coast styles before delving into the details of what is emerging here in NJ.  This grass root effort has begun within the meetup circuit and is rapidly expanding beyond. The presentation will highlight it's progress.

Relax Digital is producing a documentary as part of the Cloud Corridor Project highlighting New Jersey re-emergence as a leader in innovation. The story will be covering the key players in the Cloud Corridor movement. Relax Digital will be on scene seeking your input in the project as they capture footage from this and future meetups.

In my opinion, the Cloud Corridor has has a lot of potential and I look forward to future meetings.

The day after the meeting I felt inspired to write on the topic of new ideas and the options we now have to innovate, collaborate, and communicate.

I hope you find it interesting.

    Has this meetup been postponed?

    June 20, 2013

    • Dennis H.

Correct, the meet up is still on. My bad I thought Mark was Focusing on the short Pitch of his Company, but is focus is on the process that is taught and how it has been taught to others not the details of his company.

I've spent most of my career in R&D, designing new products and machinery. I'd really like to capitalize on my compulsion to tinker. That includes helping others with their ideas.
