Pair Program in person, or remotely

More details at: https://plus.google.com/events/c2vts866ef9fnd0jin2ku4u6j7s

We pair program remotely on the topics of your choice. More AngularJS? Some NodeJS? Back to Ruby on Rails?

Join programmers from around the world in Google Hangouts, or show up in person to see how it's managed at Makers Academy in London, UK.

Note time is noon UTC, but we'd love to hear about other times that are good for you :-)

Feel free to connect to "tansaku" on Skype in order to be added to the remote pair programming chat room that we use to coordinate

Okay, stupid question here. The 12:00 p.m. time, that's Pacific yes? Also, how long will this session last? As of 1:00 p.m. I'm officially on holiday, and need to starting driving to California. Thank you in advance!

Hi Rose, the 12 noon is UTC time - so nastily early for Pacific coast folks - we will try and run some more pacific friendly time real soon. If you let me know the best time for you I can try to arrange something that suits you

Probably something like 4:00 pm UTC would work. I think that's 8:00 am PST. :0)

      Thanks, Sam!

Might be a stupid question. My google calendar "when" section shows Saturday early morning time. But in description it says Friday 12pm. I stay in India, hence not sure what is the actual time. M timezobe challenged pls help!!

the time is Friday 12 noon UTC (GMT). Meetup doesn't appear to give me an option to set a timezone. Please refer to this google event for the precise time with correct timezone, since I know that G+ has the correct timezone setting ...

I will like to be part of this but I have not code before. I only studied C++ or OOP in college but I am now deep in Windows Networking and will like to practice coding now. Will I be qualify to be part of it? IF yes please send me the tools that will be use.

Hi Lee, anyone can start :-) in the first instance people can just observe if they don't want to join in directly. To be prepared you need to be set up with Google Chrome and Google Hangouts - see my response to Deepak below

It would be my first remote session. Like to know the requirements for this. I am resuming coding from 2 years break. What language? What platform? What tools to be installed?

    December 16, 2013

    • Deepak D.

Thanks Sam, glad to hear your response. I am starting to code and work on legacy code with TDD approach in Java, any setup that would help me in this is appreciated! Otherwise also would like to be part of it. Let me know if I have to prep my laptop with certain versions, and any tools for remote pairing?

      December 18, 2013

    • Sam J.

tools for remote pairing include getting set up with the latest version of Chrome and checking that you have everything installed to run google hangouts - try joining any of the hangouts in our G+ group: https://plus.google.co... connect with me on Skype (username "tansaku") to get more alerts about when we have hangouts there. There are lots of other tools for remote pairing, but Skype and google hangouts are the best starting places :-)
