Important message to all Returned Singaporeans

A fellow Singaporean needs our help and support!
Some or even most of you would have heard about the terrible event that happened in New York on Saturday 8th June, when a Singaporean guy, Al-Matin Mohamed, was cycling to work when he was run down by a driver of a stolen car trying to escape from the police. Matin, as he is known to his friends, is seriously injured and is in hospital undergoing intensive surgery.
See http://www.nydailynews.com/cops-seek-midtown-mugger-mowed-3-article-1.1366951 for an account of the events
I am glad to say that he is now out of danger, although he still remains in a critical condition. However, the road to recovery will be a long and painful one, and knowing how much medical services cost in the USA (especially in New York) I am publicising his (and his family's) plight and calling upon you all to help out.
The following are my suggestions:
*Join the support group set up in Facebook for him, and post messages wishing him speedy recovery. This is the link for the group
*Make a donation, big or small, to help him and his family. Details of how to do that are in the support group page.
*Send him email messages or get well cards, flowers, anything that you think appropriate c/o the Singapore Consulate in New York (I have written to the consulate and that is what they have advised us to do)

*And most important, keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers through this very difficult time for all of them.
