Edmonton Revenue Property Investors Association minutes – December 14th, 2010

Michael opened the meeting at 7:14 p.m. and introduced Les, our president. Guests introduced them selves.

Les gave us the most recent update on local market conditions. The market is soft and prices have dropped ½ % month over month. The prices are off 2 ½ % from last year. He also gave us the Edmonton Rental Market report, which is now free from CMHC.

Edmonton is now a more affordable city.

Les now has a Property Manager to handle all routine visits and he limits himself to attending to emergencies only in his units.

Our first guest speaker, Paul Foster gave an impromptu talk about his business, Contact Property services. He can offer a variety of maintenance plans options.

They can handle drywall repairs, painting, flooring installation, and various Reno’s. They are licensed, insured & carry WCB coverage.

You can find more info on his web site: www.contactps.ca or phone him at 780 996-9496

Les continued with suggestions on incentives to help get tenants into your unit. There are rent controls in B.C, Ontario and Quebec.

(Editors note: Rent controls can lead to slums such as those in New York City.)

The evening ended with some Santa treats.
