Alpine Trails in Allgäu! Mindelheimer Klettersteig+Heilbronner Höhenweg

Attendees for this meetup have registered with me and the group (6 Persons) is full.

I selected only people I knew and I have met at least once and who talked to me on previous hikes about this and/or commented to this meetup. First in first out. Right now the group is complete.

Friday thru Sunday, 3 days in the real mountains. PLEASE READ TIL THE END!

Going there on an early Friday morning, returning late on a Sunday night.

Travel by train/bus from Heidelberg to Oberstdorf area (around 5 hours trip one way, at around 80 - 160 € return pP (depending on Bahncard etc.).

Friday: going up to (3-4 hours ) 1st night

sleep at 10/20€ (AV member/non member), dinner and breakfeast at hut (at your own expenses)

Saturday morning: depending on alpine experience and equipment (group split?)

a) ("normal" alpine hiking)

(around 3-4 hrs each alternative)

Common lunchbreak at

Saturday afternoon: continue to (2091m) another 4 hours

similar overnight setting as day before

Sunday: ...fabulous and famous... (and , yes, OK, crowded to be honest)  (6-7 hours).

Going down to, to rest for a while, before at the same day descend to Spielmannsau (1100m), taking the bus to Oberstdorf, taking the train back to HD.

Important Notes

You need some alpine experience and good level of strength and fitness. 4 hours-8hours-9hours on 3 consecutive days may be tough. This is ALPINE terrain above 2000m. rocky grounds. Need to be SURE footed. people occasionally die on these trails (dropping down).
Bringing proper mountaineering shoes, 30-40l backpack (9 kg max w/o climbing gear), cotton or silk (hut-)sleeping bag.
Klettersteig -Set, harness and helmet for the Klettersteig (via ferrata) in addition.

Will need to see / talk to people who are seriously interested and who I don't know before.

Will also need to collect 20€ per night once we definitely go for it (on Wednesday evening before we leave, after checking the weather), to cover for cancellation/no show fees in the huts (I wil make reservations for 6 people)

Will try to make reservations for "PLan B" weekend as well (one week later).

Please post comments if you are seriously interested and/or talk to me in person.

I would love to join this trip. I am an avid climber and have done several alpine climbs here in Germany. I live in Ramstein and would like to meet up with you one weekend to get to know you and introduce myself.

    Hey Markus,
This sounds great - I am definitely interested in joining. I have never done a Klettersteig but would be interested in doing it - I have a good level of fitness and I have my own harness as I do indoor climbing.
