Please feel free to also join the Rhein Neckar Hiking & Outdoor Adventure Group on Facebook!
Events range from short to longer hikes, climbing, inline-skating, cycling, canoeing and lots of other activities that we might come up with or discover in the future.
There are a lot of natural areas nearby like the Odenwald, Schwarzwald, Pfälzer Wald but also the different river valleys or the Vosges Mountains in France. Even the Alps are within a 4 hours drive.
New members are always welcome - as are ideas for events!
Bear in mind that there are some requisites for becoming a members of this group:
1. A profile picture on which you are clearly visible.
2. Being approved by the organizer (which is quite easy if you accomplish the requisite above)
Also bear in mind that there are some requisites in order to stay a member of the group:
1. After 3 no-shows people will be excluded from the group. You might get a written warning after any no show but not necessarily.
Communication is king and if you can't attend an event please cancel and change your RSVP to "not going" on time in order to give other people on the waiting list the opportunity to participate. If you feel so you can additionally drop a message in the comments section.
2. Cancel on time and don't RSVP if you are merely trying to avoid a day without action just to see if something better comes up in the meantime. There are people who are never no-shows but for some curious reason tend to get sick on every event they sign up for or foster the tradition to cancel an hour before the event. This will also have consequences.
These are the minimal rules in order to show a bit of respect and gratitude towards the people who organize the events here. And no, events are not generated automatically online but people make an effort to find out the details, make the advertisement and announcement and to take you to their favourite places which can be quite some work.
Events have been completely free until now but this will also change (at least in some events) in order to avoid no-shows, guarantee a bit more of commitment from the people who sign up but also to finance this group. Being the owner of a group on Meetup.com is not free and has a cost!!!!!!!!!! Even in that case participation fees will be rather symbolic.
