Hike with (or without) Your Dog, Meridian Center Park

Sunday, June 29, 10 a.m.

                              Easy 90  minute hike.

We will walk most of the trails in this small park with its uniquely framed boardwalks.

As all our regular hikes are no-pet events we are scheduling one of our occasional hike-with-your-dog outings at Meridian Center Park.

The hike is intended for, but not limited to, people who wish to bring their pets.

As always the rules of the county parks apply:

"All pets must be leashed and you are responsible for cleaning up after them." Therefore for this outing all dogs must be leashed while in the park and you must clean up after them!

For more information contact the hike leader Chris C. at 247-9237.

Please note: This park can get marshy if there has been wet weather. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a towel for your pup in the event there are puddles.

Directions:

Meridian Center Boulevard is the first turn off Winton Road north of the Erie Canal. Go east on Meridian Center Boulevard and then left (south) into the business park. Take the first right for Building 100 (State Farm). Park behind this building and beside the park near the playground.)

I am sorry, we got last minute family arrive so I couldn't go. But does anyone take little dogs on these hikes? I thought about a front dog carrier in case my 10 pound dog can't keep up

Elaine, there are always small dogs on these hikes.

My dogs love the hikes. They are each about 13 lbs. I have two carriers my dogs never use that I can bring to the next hike for you to try if you want.

Derrick is always a good leader. I think it is important that individuals that have their dogs on retractable leashes understand the need to control their dog around others on the path, others on the walk and other dogs. We are not typically in "open" space. Someone will eventually get hurt if this is not addressed by this group. This is not the first time I have suggested this.

Derek, Thanks for leading. Harold and I enjoyed our getting out and about this a.m. to get the day started. Good pace, and thanks for the concern about getting some shade time.

I've heard about this park and wanted to see it; it's the one with all the boardwalks through the marshlands, isn't it? I don't have a dog, but am happy to walk someone else's. :D

Cassandra, the boardwalks are a fairly small part of the hike, but they are interesting. We get a lot of people who come without dogs who just want to do a short hike.
