Hike with (or without) your Dog - Henpeck Park to Junction Lock.

 Sunday, July 20, 10 a.m.

                                       Easy 90  minute hike.

We will walk along the canal from Henpeck Park to just past Junction Lock.

Meet at Henpeck Park, 2901 Ridgeway Avenue, Greece, NY. (For location and directions click on "map" above).

As all our regular hikes are no-pet events we are scheduling one of our occasional hike-with-your-dog outings from Henpeck Park.

The hike is intended for, but not limited to, people who wish to bring their pets.

As always the rules of the county parks apply:

"All pets must be leashed and you are responsible for cleaning up after them." Therefore for this outing all dogs must be leashed while in the park and you must clean up after them!

For more information contact the hike leader Chris C. at 247-9237.

Information from the Town of Greece:

While the Junction Lock was used for only a brief period

of time, its design and engineering accomplishments are

characteristic of the time it was built. Operational from

1918 through the early 1920s, Junction Lock was used to

connect the original Erie Canal to the newer and wider

Barge Canal in the Town of Greece. The locks were no

longer needed upon completion of the Barge Canal in the

early 1920s, and as a result, the site became inactive

Changed my mind due to the rainy morning so I'm relaxing with my coffee . I have a busy day ahead anyway. Enjoy!
