Jenison Tuesday Ride: Moderate Pace

Ladies if you're looking for a fun group in the area come on out! This is a ride for casual road bike riders so don't expect to hammer out 20 miles at 20 mph! Routes will vary throughout the season.

Average Speed:12-14 mph

Distance: 15-20 miles

Time: Usually takes around 1.5 hours we usually get back around 8pm

Terrain: Roads mostly, some paved bike paths, some hills

Bicycle Type: For this ride, we are asking that you have at least a "flat handlebar" road bike. It's difficult to ride at a 14 mph pace on a "comfort bike or mountain bike." (Comfort bikes and mtn bikes are geared differently from road bikes. They are heavier and mtn bikes typically have smaller wheel sizes which makes it more difficult to keep up with road bikes).

What to Bring Checklist:

- helmet

- water

-  headlight and taillight when sunset is 9pm or earlier. (Just in case).

- tires aired

- bike tuned up

- a spare tube "just in case"

Finally, please go to the "files" section of this website and find our 2013 waiver form or follow this link: (This will be updated soon to the 2014 form).

Please bring this to your first ride/ first ride of the year.

This was my first ride with the group and I realized quickly that it was a bit more than I was ready for. That said, it was a great experience and has inspired me to put more time into riding so my next ride with the girls goes better.

You just have to stick with it. Not sure what kind of bike you have but a road bike makes a huge difference. Patty and I started last year and we are still learning tricks and tips!

Thanks for the encouragement! My bike is a hybrid, which may have worked against me Tuesday but is the only option for all the dirt roads in my area. I'll keep at it, though.
