If you consider yourself a Christian, how do you define that? What is most important to you in this life, and why?

I accepted the Lord when I was 6. I've learned a lot over the years. I would define "being a Christian" as being a follower of Christ, both as a servant and as a son. God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in Him. The Christian life, for me, has been a never-ending quest to decrease myself as He increases in my life. Jesus Christ died on the cross when I was his enemy, a sinner and rebel. He did so because of his obedience to God the Father (Heb 12:1-3) so that I may have everlasting life (John 3:16). My salvation is the ultimate act of God's grace in my life, as I have done absolutely NOTHING to merit enduring life, nor earn the grace He gives me on a daily basis. I am His son, His servant, His love and "bride", and His perfect creation. The most important thing in my life is the treasure of Jesus. (Matt 13:44)

Would you consider yourself a "mostly outdoors" type of person, or "mostly urban"? Do you have any specific goals with regards to adventure and the outdoors for the coming year?

I would consider myself a very "outdoorsy" person, always looking for a new adventure or something outside of "civilization" to appreciate. While I tend to like all that cities have to offer (wine tasting, in particular!), I tend to gravitate towards camping, caving, rafting, and other activities that seem to intimidate most others. I would love to just SEE all of the amazing places the east coast has to offer, as I spent most of my U.S. time on the west coast. Any suggestions?

What lead you to this group, in particular?

I've been wanting to start this group for quite a while. Many of my friends are unable to travel much because of work, new babies, etc. I'm very interested in finding like-minded Christians who SEEK OUT outdoor adventures and are truly eager to spend their weekends in the outdoors in rich fellowship with other believers.

Besides God or the outdoors, what would you say are some things you are most passionate about in life?

I'm passionate about lots of things: I love to learn and research things, I've played guitar for over 16 years, I love emergency medicine, I care immensely about family and my marriage (2 years!), I'm very passionate about driving (nearly became a California Highway Patrolman before I enlisted in the Navy), and I LOVE wine tasting! I've recently gained a great interest in craft beers, as well. I'm very eager to find new friends and build some good, solid relationships with people who share my interests.

Introduction

I'm passionate about Jesus, my wife, medicine, the outdoors, teaching, guitar, Settlers of Catan, travel, and swimming. I am an non-denominational Christian. I love authors John Piper and Randy Alcorn. Steven Curtis Chapman and Mat Kearney rock!
