RE: [rlccef] FW: Romney snub of Ron Paul supporters could prove costly

I appreciate a rational reply and it is not that I have not been giving my vote careful thought rather than the application of emotions. I had no faith in the voting public to have done the depth and breadth of research on the candidates, continuously challenging their voting records for months before the primaries but the general populace is inundated by the controlled-media.  We talk about such nonsense as “debating skills”, “speaking skills” and even the insane “presidential looks”.

There is only one thing that counts in choosing an executive in a republic, their VOTING HISTORY – how did they vote on matters?  Look back in our history before we were blasted by opinions masquerading as journalism, 15-second sound bytes, and manipulated interviews. Our founders argued for the position BY LETTER – if one reads them, one can readily determine the character of the man and his position on issues – they were there for all to read.

Politicians today skirt answers with elegant workarounds and their voting records cannot lie.

The candidate I lobbied for had the most adherence to the rule of law under our constitution.

Governor Johnson had a similar record while serving as the governor of New Mexico, vetoing more legislation than any other governor in their history based on the state and general constitutions, reducing or eliminating the ultra vires role of the state – AND IT WORKED!

If someone does not raise the question, it can never be discussed honestly and factually.

Too many are quick to place their bets – if enough of us were to study the reality rather than the perceptions that are crafted by professionals, things could actually be different.  Could you imagine what the election of a constitution-obedient president could do?

We are heading for an economic disaster as has never before been seen in this country and we no longer have the means of production to recover without an extended depression and a great big attitude change. The lifestyle we enjoy today will be a thing of the past and it will  not recover in my lifetime.  So I want to be there to help in the recovery and make things better for my grandchildren and theirs.

If we KNOWINGLY make the needed cuts now, we can manage the collapse.  If we continue down the “big government” path any longer, we will surely devolve into dictatorship – the Greek and Roman philosophers were right – it is time to elect a new “Cincinnatus”.

If Romney demonstrates an understanding of this need, he’ll earn my vote.

I have yet to see anything coming even close from him.

I have been following this thread for over 2 weeks without comment....and I appreciate the comments and thoughts from both sides of the argument....but I have to agree with Curt Smith....I believe he has nailed it....relative to shooting ones foot off....Las Vegas odds on Gary Johnson winning even one state is below zero....but he could get enough votes in critical states to assure Obama as the winner.....See the movie 2016 before you decide......because once you have Obama the imperial dictator who's primary personal goal in my opinion is to diminish our country to 3rd world status at best.....don't cry "I didn't know it would result in this"!!

Is Romney the ideal conservative candidate?....no way...did the RNC do some stupid things at the convention...you bet.....but Romneys a far cry more conservative with business savy  than Obama and it provides us at least 4 years to put the heat on and try to save ourselves from fiscal ruin as a country. In strategic battles time is one of the most critical elements.......it buys time to find the solution set.......if Obama wins I believe not only is the battle lost, but very probably the WAR!!!

So please think it through before you fire that emotional gun....your vote.....and blow off your foot and take me with you!!!  I'll be out working to get Romney elected over the next 60 days and once elected the battle to assure he cuts expenses and improves the economy will start....you can't walk away... the job is never finished on election day.....but a least we will have a goal, and a purpose to continue .....John Weiler

Am I stupid?  I think maybe I am because I don't remember Ron Paul winning any primaries.  So

how many states will he carry with Romney and Obama as his opponents?  As I have said before,

Hamilton – Although I could not agree more that we must get Obama out of the office, replacing him with Romney/Ryan is not the answer IMHO.  As Gary Johnson suggests, give him a shot for four years – honestly, what do we have to lose?  The only reason a third party candidate “can’t win” is because everyone keeps saying that a third party candidate can’t win and then votes for the lesser of two evils.

I have been saying for a long time that these candidates are being “foisted” on us and the proof of that has been circulating around the net for the past few days.  When will we learn that continuing to do the same thing over and over (voting for the lesser evil) hasn’t worked and will not work this time either?

Matt,

This was a snub of ALL conservatives. First thing is to unseat O, followed closely by systematically removing those that don't follow the constitution.

The RNC don't understand it, but they have Pissed a sawake Sentinal off.

"Politics is the art of inclusion" said former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean. The Romney campaign seems to have forgotten this wise advice. Although, I am certainly a practitioner of hardball politics, the Romney treatment of Congressman Ron Paul at the Republican National Convention strikes me as gratuitous, unnecessary and perhaps fatal in terms of Romney's November prospects.

Although, Congressman Paul won at least 131 delegates through the primary and caucus process, the Secretary of the Republican convention refused to acknowledge, tally or announce Paul's votes. I cannot imagine the reason for this incredible snub.

When Congressman Paul's supporters gathered the majority of delegates in five states necessary to put Paul's name in nomination, the Romney forces quickly amended the rules to require a majority of eight states for that purpose. With Romney having secured more then enough delegates to be nominated it is difficult to understand what harm would have been done if Ron Paul's name had been placed in nomination and his duly elected delegates had been tallied and announced in the balloting.

All of this is particularly vexing in view of Ron Paul's studied neutrality in the November elections and not-too-bright Senator Rand Paul's transparent, self-serving endorsement of Mitt Romney.Rand Paul keeps calling the pro-War, pro-interventionist GOP platform " very libertarian." It isn't . Wake up Senator, Romney is itching to bomb Iran, backs the war in Afghanistan, supports the federal "war on drugs, the Patriot act and won't abolish the Federal Reserve.

Mitt Romney and his handlers have essentially told the Liberty Wing of the Republican Party to drop dead. They would have been wise to remember that Governor Gary Johnson is still likely to be on the ballot in 50 states despite the illegal and fraudulent effort by Republicans to block his ballot access in Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. The Romney forces should bear in mind that Ralph Nader got 97,000 votes in Florida, a state George W. Bush ultimately carried by 523 votes. The Romneyites have helped push Paul supporters into the Johnson camp.Romney acts like he's 15 points ahead instead of in a dead heat in which he needs every vote. Any significant showing by Johnson in any swing state could spell doom for Romney, who did not support Ronald Reagan in the general elections of 1980 or 1984 and who didn't become a Republican until 1983.
