Update on campaign to elect Missy Wilson to Palm Bay City Council

Hi All,

I spoke with Bob White earlier this week and he said I have received the endorsement of the RLCCEF as well as the Liberty Catalyst Fund. Thank you so much. That really means a lot especially considering I have been unable to attend meetings lately.

I know you all worked very hard in the primaries and it was amazing to see all the organizing emails coming through. From speaking with the Maddox people I know there were over 60,000 voters that need to be reached county wide. I faced no primary as my race is non-partisan in the General Election. Just in the city of Palm Bay there are over 60,000 voters with a majority of Democrats over Republicans. Daunting!

For those of you not familiar with Palm Bay, it is the largest city in Brevard and right now we are almost at the state limit for property tax. The state cap is 10mils and we are at 9. Unlike Melbourne we have very little commercial revenue so most of our funding comes from the residents. I'll give you one guess as to how eager our current council is to make cuts :(

I've been in Palm Bay for over 19 years and have seen many changes, some good and some...well we are at 9 mils! As "Keith from Palm Bay" (on Bill Mick Live) said, "move to Palm Bay, your taxes can only get lower". But I still love living here. It is where my kids have grown up. I have a son, 17, daughter, 16 and my youngest daughter is 12. Palm Bay is all they have known. My son has been in scouts since 1st grade, in Palm Bay and is now working towards his Eagle. My 16 year old has helped teach English as a second language here as well.

We have a chance this November to change things and get the good 2/3 vote that is always lacking on the county level. Kristine Isnardi is not up for reelection this time so with Harry Santiago and I joining her, we can get things back on track. The incumbent in my race is progressive liberal that quotes Michael Moore and pushes for comprehensive sex education in our schools. I'm not sure if she's just talking about showing Madonna videos or what "comprehensive sex education" entails but the job of council is to represent to the residents. Joe Pishgar, from the Space Coast Progressive Alliance, said on his website, "I hear all the time 'we have to elect true progressives!' we've got three in Palm Bay right this minute and they need us badly. Let's show the crazed, lunatic Tea Party fringe what we're made of." I don't think running local government in a responsible fashion is crazed or lunatic!

I have been out going door to door, speaking with Republicans and Democrats and it is encouraging to hear they both agree we need a change. I will be visiting more HoAs over the next 2 months and have a forum coming up in October. Wish me luck.

Again, thank you so much for your support. It made my day to hear Bob say you guys were behind me. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Here's a link to my Facebook page (for those of you that took Matt's class) Missy for Palm Bay. Please take a minute to "like" it and show Pishgar and the other progressives what WE are made of.

As you know, campaigns are expensive and I can't make it across the finish line without funds. If you are able, go to Help Elect Missy Wilson and make a contribution to the campaign. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and wisely spent.

God Bless,

Missy Wilson
