Please get this out to everyone you know in Satellite Beach. Also, people you know elsewhere may know folks in Satellite and can share with them as well.

I was very happy to see this email a supporter sent to his Satellite Beach friends.  I think such contact and information sharing is needed to  ensure we continue our new approach to city governance (i.e. new faces and ideas that are producing VERY positive results).
If you could take the time to use this data (or just cut/paste) to put together your own email to share with YOUR email friends, it would help tremendously.  FYI--the data he presented is from the neighborhood flyer I put together last week and comes from the FY11 independent audit and past budgets.
Thanks for your continued support and belief in more efficient government.

Hi Friends,
Here is why I am supporting Trevor Lowing for Mayor/Lloyd French and Scott Rhodes for Councilmen this upcoming election:
Old Satellite Beach City Council
Catino/Brimer/Gott (Accomplishments* in 30+ Combined Years on Council)
- Highest tax rate in Brevard County (until 2011, when Palm Bay took over and we became #2)
- Increased Long Term Debt to $9.3 million (debt service well over $1 million/year)
- Increased Unfunded Retirement Liabilities to $6.34 million (employees' pensions at risk)
- Increased Post Employment Benefits Debt to $1.1 million (and climbing rapidly)
- Depleted City's Reserve Fund to Dangerous Levels (putting city's post-disaster response capability at risk for years to come)
- Allowed CRA funds to be Misused (requiring the General Fund to payback the CRA) and Negotiated a Loan that has a Very High Pre-Payment Penalty
- Government of the Many by the Few (same faces over and over again on council and committees)
*debt and liability values gleaned from the city's most recent outside audit, pages 41, 44 and 47, respectively
New Satellite Beach City Council
Billman/French/Rhodes (Accomplishments in first 10 months of the new Council [since 12/2011])
- Decreased Tax Rate 2% (REAL decrease, not Roll Back mumbo-jumbo)
- Decreased Departmental Budgets by 7.1% (via efficiencies id'd in the combined citizen-staff Citizens' Advisory Panel for Efficient Government [CAPEG] effort [created by council 2/12] and run by French)
- Increased Debt Paydown (to payback CRA mismanagement of funds from previous years)
- Increased City's Dangerously-Depleted Reserve Fund by 2111% (~$150k) compared to last year
- Resolved CRA Funds Mismanagement Problem (via new procedures/plans and FL state coordination)
- Increased Transparency and Accountability at City Hall and City Departments
- No Layoffs.  All Personnel Efficiencies are Being Accomplished via Attrition
- Encouraged New Faces/Ideas to Participate in Government (CAPEG, committees, council candidates)
- PROVED GOVERNMENT CAN BE MORE EFFICIENT while maintaining outstanding services!
*French/Rhodes currently on council.  Trevor Lowing (who has an MBA and military/corporate leadership experience) has advocated for the new council's efforts in  meetings, and is running for Mayor for first time. He is very forward-thinking and has played a major role in getting the transparency of our city out in the open.
So please share this information with your neighbors and friends. We are on the right track and have much to do. Trevor, Scott and Lloyd will make sure we continue in this direction.
