Re: [rlccef] Common Core Action Plan

I just felt it imperative to pass this along to the 9/12 community.

The Tennessee Firearms Association, Inc. has called for Tennessee legislators to stop or at a minimum delay implementation of the Common Core standards in Tennessee due to concerns about the teaching materials and testing concerning the Constitution, specifically as regards the Second Amendment.
“We are already seeing textbooks and teaching assignments that are a part of Common Core intentionally or recklessly misrepresenting the Second Amendment in schools across the country,” noted John Harris, Executive Director of the TFA, “and we want to insure that the liberal anti-gun agenda is not allowed to invade Tennessee schools.”
Harris cites examples of Common Core textbooks and teaching assignments that have misrepresented the Second Amendment right to bear arms as limited to a “member of a militia of citizen soldiers.” “That is NOT what the Second Amendment says, nor is it what our Founders intended,” Harris pointed out in releasing a letter to legislators calling for them to support stopping or at a minimum delaying implementation of Common Core in Tennessee schools. Other Common Core lessons have instructed sixth graders to eliminate provisions of the Bill of Rights and have taught that police have the right to confiscate guns in violation of the Constitution.

Thank you,

Dale Davis

My friend Luz, has practically 'lived' in Tally last week or more.   That's how we all have to do it in order to get our 'feel' for the pulse up there.    Obviously, Luz thinks it will not be easy to get out of this train wreck, which is just as bad (almost) as O'Care.   Neither do we want or need in America.   Please share with whomever yu can, and get on the list on their website.   Thanks,  Alice

Dear Friends and Activists,

In the midst of the government shutdown, and our resolute stance on stopping federal government overreach and deficit spending, the Common Core battle rages on in Florida.  Having met numerous State Senators and Representatives both in South Florida and in Tallahassee, another 3 already this week and one more tomorrow, I can assure you that this fight to save our children and schools from FED ED, is far from over.  It is going to be a long, intense, and hard-fought battle.

This morning, the Miami Herald published an Letter to the Editor regarding Common Core.  Disastrous approach to teaching and learning

As with the upcoming election, and the "war" to win the Senate (as many of you recall - I begged, pleaded, and pulled some people kicking and screaming - into the priority of the Senate race during the 2012 elections, but we needed more hands on deck), the fight against CCSS will need to be done in phases to maximize success:

Phase I - Information

Educate yourselves on the dangers of Common Core.  There are some great speakers and organizations throughout Florida committed to this mission - voiding CCSS in the State of Florida.  If you or your group desire more information, let us know.  In the meantime, the following websites are important to bookmark.

Phase II - Transmittal and Communication to your Contact List

Please continue to spread the news about the dangers of Common Core to your contact list.  Daily we get new opponents and activists signing up to join us in the fight!

Phase III - Boots-on-the-Ground

We have bookmarks and literature that we would like disseminated throughout South Florida.  Remember, Miami Dade and Broward County Public Schools are the 4th and 6th largest school districts in the country. Do we really want them to follow the path of the 3 largest school districts - New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago?  It is up to us to stop this progressivism of "thought and action" in education.  Let's put academics back in the schools.

We need people to attend school board meetings and insist the school board pass a resolution to pause Common Core.

We need people to call and email the school board members.

We need people to call and email our legislators in Tallahassee.

We need people to write more letters to the editors of newspapers and news programs.

Phase IV

Consider putting together a group to go to Tallahassee for Committee Week in November - the week of November 4.

With all the battles that we are waging to return this country to constitutional governance, lower taxes, more freedom, and LESS GOVERNMENT, let's remember that if we lose our children to "the government" - it's over; Life, Family, and Freedom will never be what it once was.

Thank you for standing beside us in so many battles.  I ask you with deep admiration for your prior efforts, to not stop now.  Help us defeat CCSS in the State of Florida.

Best always,

Luz
