Robot Theater Project at Japan Society

Two short plays written and directed by Oriza Hirata and in collaboration with Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro, a leading international researcher on robotics and director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University in Japan. In the first play, "Sayonara" (android and human actors), an android is bought to console a girl suffering from a fatal illness, but when its mechanics go awry, the meaning of life and death is questioned. In the second play, "I, Worker" (robots and human actors), a husband's struggle to cope with the loss of his child is juxtaposed with the malaise of one of his robots. This double bill will be performed by Hirata’s Seinendan Theater Company, in English and Japanese with English subtitles. Three performances scheduled, February 7-9 at 7:30 pm.

My recollection, when I saw a performance in Osaka, was that it is in Japanese with English subtitling (not unlike supertitles in opera). I just verified on the Japan Society webpage that this is indeed the case.

I assume we are responsible for purchasing our own tickets to the performance. I may have missed it, but I didn't see anything explicitly stated on the meetup page regarding this.

Or you can purchase onsite right before the performance if tickets are still available.

I was able to see "I, Worker" at the HRI 2010 conference in Osaka and enjoyed it. Looking forward to "Sayonara", which I have not seen.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
