It would be great to have an intro to Arduino. I just ordered one a few days ago and I can't wait to dive right in. Is anyone using one now who would like to do an intro?

Hi Everyone, A lot of things have happened in the Arduino world since we met last year. And in space.
It is time to work on some serious Arduino projects to explore the space above us, more in an academics sense.
I wanted to introduce to you the RNAUT project, aimed at soft-landing a tiny Arduino-based satellite on the Moon.
If you would like to know more and to see how to get involved, please join me for a presentation coming Saturday, June 28th at 11 am in midtown.
Check out the event details here:
Here are some links to Arduino/Space projects:
Looking forward to seeing you. Please note, this meeting is for serous Arduino enthusiasts. Prior knowledge or related experience is not required, but commitment and willingness to learn is a must. There will be help.

Hi all, it was a pleasure meeting everyone the other day!I got some of my arduino project working for the Maker Faire and uploaded the latest video here: (it is still work in progress)http://youtu.be/MgN62sVLJHM
If you are going to be at the faire, please stop at my space in zone A for a demo.
Looking forward to attending another of those arduino meetups sometime.

I retried, it works for me. Could you please provide more information like browser or any error message? If anyone else sees any issue, please let me know. You can also search on youtube for "ayyappan" and "arduino"!

Meetup was great, I had a pleasure to share my knowledge of programming arduino with everyone

Sorry I missed it, would love to attend the next one :-)

I am really sorry I could not make it to the meetup. I was not able to come at the last minute. I really want to come to the next one. I hope everyone learned a lot.
Do you need to bring your arduino and computer? I was going to bring a notebook and then try it at home.

Very good option. I can actually give you some code for UNO.

Any one know of local places you can get a hold of a kit?
0 · August 17, 2013
We have Arduino's for sale at Alpha One for $25.
You can also buy them online or some radio shacks sell them.
0 · August 18, 2013
I'd recommend you to bring and arduino UNO with you
Yes, some radio shacks have them. I bought in one Nostrnd Avenue and avenue Y. Maybe Kings Plaza has some. ... You have still two more days to go over all radio shacks in your area.
would an arduino esplora be okay for this class?
0 · July 24, 2013
Yes Dora :)
Good thing But esplora is that it has an rgb led, sound sensor, light senson, motion sensor on itself, along with special libraries written for them, but the bad thing is that I don't know can I plug some additional LEDs and stuff in it
0 · August 14, 2013
I don't think that esplora will allow you projects with multiple LEDs, multiple sensors, etc. However you can a buy a special kind of display shield which plugs directly in it
Good thing that it has multiple built in sensors and buttons. So if you are a good programmer, you can quickly turn it into a game console
I guess this info might be useful for you http://arduino.cc/en/...
I can't take an arduino with me, because its part of my project. If I start to take it apart I will have a hard time to reprogram it. So whenever is possible .... Have your arduino boards with you, along with laptops.
OK, have your own arduinos computers, leds, light sensors, SD shields, I am going to show you some starter's projets

newbie question - the package I ordered doesn't have an SD shield, if I bring a netbook and connect it to the arduino, will that work? http://www.amazon.com...
You can pick up SD shields at radio shack for cheap
You don't need an sd shield for a first lesson. Will be very good to have some LEDs with resistors, A well as light sensors, ... Another funny thing is an rgb led. But for a first class, just arduino UNO itself and a couple of LEDs are necessary. And a netwbook
Personally I use sd card for light and temperature logger application...
Wow. Always wondered if I would ever get introduced to arduino

Awesome Gregory, Looking forward to the meetup!

Look what can I do with Arduino Mega...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2FvIEvJfPE
Yes, I am using an arduino, and consider myself a very very freshman in it.

I have two kids over 8, can they attend?
0 · July 23, 2013
Tentative subject to specific date. Working on interesting Arduino projects.
0 · July 18, 2013
Alpha One Labs would be honored to host this at it's new location. We can fit lots of people now! Just chose a date and we'll make it happen.
