RE: [robotics-71] FW: [DPRG] RoboRama '08A Draft, Part 1

Good luck on Monday!

We may get more participation if we give more time before the competition and somehow use the meetings to help us all prepare for the competition.   We could treat the meetings as group help sessions.  Maybe we could discuss strategies for competing at the next meeting.  And then maybe show how to compete using some readily available robot platforms, such as  Sumovore, parallax bots, Scott's bot if it will be ready for sale and some other platforms.  A big benefit to me of our group is the learning I get from the other group members (as well as an enjoyable group to hang with on a Saturday afternoon).

If we could wait till or have another competition in April, Derek and I would REALLY like to compete. Right now though we won't be able to since my wife is scheduled to have our baby this monday through induction, (Please say a prayer or think a positive thought for us!) and will be rather busy for the next 6 weeks or so till life starts to resemble a schedule again.

I don't want to hold this up but if folks are on the fence about this then maybe a bit of time would allow more to prepare and/or create an opportunity for a group project.

Cheers!
Andy

If we can get people to show, I?d love to have another competition. And I like the one Steve posted. Unfortunately, the last two months we?ve only had 2 other regulars show up to each meeting. We DID have two different groups come each month?but last minute groups that come for input on their projects wouldn?t be prepared for a competition.

If we can drum up enough ?yeah, February!?s, let?s do it.

Speaking of which, have we talked about a next contest yet?

What do people think about February?

the first cone again.  The first robot to do this wins the match.  In
each pairing, the first robot to win two matches advances to the next
