KODACHADRI TREK WITH ARISHINAGUNDI AND HIDLUMANE WATERFALLS

KODACHADRI TREK ( with Arishinagundi and Hidlumane Waterfalls ) November 23rd & 24th' 2013

LOCATION : Kodachadri is a hill located in the Western Ghats of Karnataka at an altitude of 1343 meters above sea level. Its located in Shimoga district close to the temple town of Kollur.
With beautiful trekking trails, evergreen jungles and beautiful waterfalls its an ideal place for adventure and nature lovers.

TREK SUMMERY : We start the trek after freshening up and having breakfast at a homestay from Karikatte gate. The distance to the peak is around 14kms. The inital path of walk inside forest was filled with sounds of birds. The first stretch is to Hidlumane falls which is about 2 kms and passed through thick jungle for most of the way till you enter a clearing near the falls. We walk down the steel jungle path past the clearing to reach the Hidlumane falls. Take a refreshing shower under the falls and then head on to the peak. We take the steep ascend from the falls through jungles with no trails till we read the trail. Once we reach the trail the ascend is gradual and mostly through grasslands with few forest patches. By 2-3 p.m. we reach the small temple, about 15 minutes below the peak. Take rest and have lunch here and later visit the peak to see the views and the beautiful sunset. Later we camp at a village house for the night. The next day we take a different route with similar terrain to visit the beautiful Arishinagundi Waterfalls located in the jungles where one can stand under the falls and swim in the pool below it. By afternoon we reach Kollur and leave for Bangalore. Reach Bangalore by 11 p.m.
