Hi Sunil,

This group is an awesome initiative! I hope you do not dissolve it.

At the same time, I agree with you Sunil that we all need to be more responsive with our RSVPs, especially all the 'newbies', me included.

I have a small suggestion here, purely my opinion, feel free to criticize. Could we have more of the Turahalli type meetups, one-day treks and such? The number of members who turned up at Turahalli was quite good, so it is a good chance to get to know people. That might in a way lead to everyone taking more interest in RSVPs and trip schedules.

Hi Sunil,

I'm sorry I didn't respond immediately to your Coorg email with a Yes or
No - but I didn't know there was so much urgency!  Your email had no
RSVP-deadline date, and even said "I am going down to take a look at the
place on Monday. Shall post a detailed schedule by latest Wednesday".  So I
assumed we had until then to think it over.  Sorry about that.

My situation was (and still is) that my grandson in Delhi turns 4 on May
2nd, and my daughter wants me to be there, but my going is not yet sure.
Daughter was back from China only on Sat 21st.  If that trip gets cancelled,
then I would be able to consider Coorg (with the rock-climbers) or Munnar
(with my brother-in-law's family who are driving there) - so you can see why
I'm in such a state of undecision!

And the cost is definitely a consideration too - and by that I don't mean
that your rate is too high.  I mean that I have just spent a lot of money on
various things and am trying to maintain my non-working status - which I
LOVE - by thinking carefully before I spend.

The reason I'm boring you with all these details is that I like your
Outdoors & Rockclimbing Group, and would like you to continue with it, and
would like to do whatever it takes to help you do that.

So my suggestion is :

1.  When you suggest a new trip, could you indicate clearly whether the trip
(especially one set up at short notice) has a firm RSVP deadline, or is a
laid-back Turahalli type outing where we can put off the decision and come
at the last minute if necessary?

2.  For 'firm RSVP deadline' trips, could we set up a system through which
we can give you *immediate* feedback on where we are - yes, no, and MAYBE -
and the 'maybe' should include our reasons for being unsure, and when we
expect to be sure.  Would the RSVP system allow for a 'maybe'?  Or can we
set up some kind of simple multiple choice questionnaire which allows us to
give you immediate feedback on where we are, without your having to plough
through scores of emails?

Thanks,

Indu
