Great Falls Climbing on Saturday Morning

I'm looking for 1-2 people that love great falls as much as I do and want to spend a day finding all the best climbs on the Virginia side. I like to climb 5.7-5.9. I have the rope and am experienced in setting up top rope anchors. Just need a belay and ride. I live in Woodley park, but can meet at a metro.

Requirements

-Have a car, or willing to split zip car.

-Belay certified*****

-Bare minimum gear: climbing shoes, harness, belay device, helmet (recommended), water, snacks

-Be able to hike 5-7 miles with pack

***Please get in touch if you would like to climb great falls at another date.

Hey- I'm a couple of months out of climbing shape, but heading back to Earthtreks this week. I have a car and would love to climb outside Saturday June 29 if anyone is interested. I sold my rope/quickdraws before I moved here, but I have all other gear. I used to climb outside every weekend when I lived in Korea, but I'm new to climbing in this area and would enjoy some information on it.

Hey Heidi, I am definitely down for climbing on Saturday, June 29. Emily and Tony were also planning to go back to GF soon, so hopefully they too can make it. Just keep me posted and we will connect later to talk details.

Hey Tony, I asked two friends and they are on travel. A third may join, but not sure yet. So don't count on any additions from me. I can meet you guys at the GF's parking lot on Sat morning. I messaged you my #. Thanks!

Hey Tony, I'm new to rock climbing but live close to Great Falls (I'm in Vienna). Would this be a good place for me to start?

Ross - I recommend you taking the Intro to Climbing at your local climbing gym.

    Tony,

I haven't rock climbed in years, so do you think I need to retest in belaying so I get up to speed? I used to climb at Sportrock in Rockville, MD. I have gear somewhere but the harness probably doesn't fit anymore and my chalk bag is who knows where. I'll definitely be up for this once I get my refresher. I work near Woodley Park and live in College Park.

Get gear that fits, then do the intro package at a climbing gym. Please reach out after that.

Max - Tony is targeting experienced climbers with appropriate gear. This isn't a gym-sponsored or outdoor recreation center-sponsored event. To get up to speed, check out Earth Treks at some point and take the belay test.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
