PATC-MS Mix & Mingle Membership Drive & Strength Conditioning Clinic

The Potomac Mountain Club, a.k.a. the PMC, a.k.a. the Mountaineering Section of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, a.k.a PATC-MS is holding a fundraiser and membership drive  at the Patagonia store in Georgetown. Find out what the PMC has to offer and network with enthusiasts from all genres of climbing.  There will be catered snacks and refreshments courtesy of Honest Tea and a raffle with items from PATC-MS, Patagonia, Five-Ten, Petzl, the AAC, and GU Energy Gel.

Although the mix & mingle party is free and open to all, for only $20 (though you also need to be a PMC member), professional climber Tim Rose is holding a clinic on "Strength Training and Conditioning for Climbers". The clinic starts at 7pm and you need to sign up (and pay) for it on the PMC's website. Tim, who boulders V13, will take you through an interactive clinic specifically targeted to increase your climbing performance.  And if that isn't sweet enough, every participant goes home with a little something from one of Tim's sponsors, GU Energy Gel! If you're not already a PMC member, membership costs $30/year. The easiest way to join is on the PMC website (potomacmountainclub.org).

Update! The Tim Rose Clinic this Wednesday down at Patagonia in Georgetown will now be open and available to all! For those who are interested in the clinic but are not PATC-MS members, we will be allowing the general public to participate in the clinic for $25 the day of ($20 for PATC-MS members). You don't need to register online--just show up! First-come, first-serve!

In case anyone else was wondering what the clinic will entail and what to wear/bring, here's an update I got from one of the event organizers: The clinic will be interactive in that you'll have enough room to stretch out. You'll be shown work-out moves that you can use to increase climbing strength and conditioning, but this will not be a full-on workout session and there will not be any actual climbing. Wear anything you can move comfortably in but it doesn't need to be workout attire. The session will be indoors and no outdoor gear is needed.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
