Where: Great Falls National Park, VA
9200 Old Dominion Drive
McLean, VA 22102
[masked]
It's cold, but we don't care!
Actually, it won't be that cold. The forecast calls for a high of 45 degrees, and many of the Great Falls routes are in the sun. So bring your gloves, wear layers, and come out to enjoy a day of climbing on real rock. This will be a relaxed day of top-roping. No outdoor experience necessary, but you will need your own harness, shoes, etc.
DetailsMeet at 10am at the climber's parking lot at Great Falls. After you enter the park, take the immediate right - the road winds down to a parking area that's closest to the climbs.
We have, tentatively, 3 climbing ropes, so I'm setting the meetup limit to 10 people. The final limit will depend on the amount of gear we have. If you can bring gear, please say so! A standard top-rope setup at Great Falls requires a climbing rope, 50-100ft of static line or webbing, and 2 locking biners. Climbing ropes are usually the limiting factor, we have extras of the other stuff.
MoneyNo fee for our group, but it does cost $5 per car to enter the park.
DisclaimerGoes for every meetup, but I'll state it here: We're not guides. We (the organizers) haven't vetted everyone's equipment or expertise. Ask questions and trust your own judgement. You are responsible for your own safety.
Now that that's out of the way, come out and climb!
