It's Oktoberfest! So we're heading up to take advantage of the camping, the festivities, and the rock. Come join for whatever bit, or combo thereof you fancy.
(air quality: https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/enviwa/)
We'll meet at Clamshell Cave 10am where there are lots of routes ranging from 5.6 to 10c.
Every route can be easily accessed from above to set up top ropes or you can lead them. There's also some excellent low 5.7 and 5.8 cracks and flakes that are supplemented by bolts to let you play with cams and nuts should you want to add a trad climb to your season.
Here is a map that also has images of the rock formation to stop and park opposite (no pass or fees required) and how to find the trail that leads up to it (once you find the start it's a very obvious trail straight to it).
There's the option of heading into town and then camping or just heading up to camp for drinks and food of our own devising. The secret free camping area is thoroughly recommended.
Find Mountain Home Road opposite the Safeway and just keep going until you come to the mini-railroad tracks.
Here's the exact location...
In the evening we'll put it up to a vote where we fancy going and what we want to do. We'll update the meetup with the consensus.
I'll email all the rsvp-ers nearer the date and we can trade
numbers to ensure late arrivals or lostee's (it happens) can locate us or catch up or get directions (if I don't reply immediately give it a little while, I might be climbing, belaying someone, out of breath from hiking, or have no reception at all).
Basically when you see the champagne colored Toyota Corola with
the 'LA County Coroner' sticker you're in the right place. At the crags look for the 'Union Jack' painted climbing helmet.

Would be handy if you have them: Rope, quickdrawers, ATC/grigri, personal anchor, cams, chalk, anchors, slings and such.
