Announcing a new Meetup for The Seattle Climbing Meetup Group!
What: North Bend - sport climbing
When: Saturday, March 6,[masked]:45 AM
North Bend, WA 98045
It's supposed to be nice out this weekend so let's try our luck at Exit 38!
This event is in response to the large number of you who posted your interest on the "Ideas" page of the Meetup website. Lots of folks would like to climb beginner to moderate routes (5.6 - 5.10b) so let's try and get a good assortment of climbers at different levels of ability so that everyone can have fun.
If we get enough lead climbers and enough gear, we can open this up to top-rope climbers, but for now - please rsvp only if you can lead or belay for a leader. If all goes well, I will update this in a few days to include our top-roping friends.
In your RSVP, please indicate your skill level and what gear you have. We need to make sure we have enough rope, anchor gear, guidebooks etc. We should have 1 rope for every 3 people, maybe 4. Exit 38 is a mostly single-pitch, sport climbing area with chain anchors. Very simple. See the following website for info and directions. http://www.deceptioncrags.com/Directions/ChangeCreekParkingArea.htm
In keeping with the spirit of this group, please be generous and patient with those less experienced than you. Please be honest about your abilities. Safety first! Climb at your own risk.
Look for my blue Subaru Outback in the large parking area on the left at the Deception Crags trailhead. We'll meet at 9:45 and start the approach shortly after 10. If you're late, it's up to you to find us. I can give out my cell number to those who contact me separately (don't want to post it online).
