11-MILE CANYON CAMPING TRIP: June 14th and 15th, 2013

A climbing/camping weekend to glorious, 11-Mile Canyon, just south of the small town of Lake George (40 miles west of Colorado Springs). The trad and sport climbing here is fantastic (fly fishing too) and we will base the camping at "Riverside Campground", within the park itself. I have booked a site already for myself and some climbing friends but at present there are lots of camp sites available. We had an excellent meetup here last summer.

Hey Clayton, I'm coming down Saturday morning, any room for an additional tent? It is pretty small. Thanks

Actually, didn't see the prior comments regarding the fire, looks like R & S has the directions under control:)

    June 14, 2013

  • Dan M.

This is probably obvious to everyone, but just in case: as you head south from Boulder and Denver today, make sure and take 285 instead of I-25 as I-25 in CO Springs is either closed or a mess due to the Black Forest Fire. Safe travels and we'll see you there.

Joseph and I, will be there Friday morning about 930 to 10, I will be be there only for the day, will be at arch rock,

    June 14, 2013

  • Edward

Im contemplating an alternative route down. Avoid the mess on 25 if the fires still burning. Hope they have it under control by Friday.

I also have not been to a meetup with this group and plan on coming up early Saturday morning or late Friday depends entirely on the carpool situation. Any info on a good place to meet and if anyone has any space at a camp site. My climbing level on a good day is up to 11+(few good days lately) and have available most gear.

    Hi,

Tim here. I'm new to the group and planning to come up Saturday morning. The line of single pitch climbs someone mentioned earlier sounds like a great place to start and to get to know some people. Where is a good place to link up and what time?

    Look forward to it!

Is anyone looking for a partner who wants to climb in the 9 to 11+ range? I'll be there Friday and Saturday morning.

    June 11, 2013

    • Joseph Y.

yes. I would be interested. Im closer to 9-10+ and want to start climbing 11's. Alex and I were going to do some mixed climbing on friday all day (and you are more than welcome to join us) but saturday is pretty much open for me. I only obtain sport climbing gear which limits me slightly.

Is anyone driving from Boulder? I don't mind driving, but also wouldn't mind passengers for a carpool. #954_410_9627

    June 5, 2013

    • Margaret

Hi Joseph. Yep I have room but I don't have an extra tent. So if you can get one you are welcome to join my site!

      June 10, 2013

    • Joseph Y.

It looks like I will be able to borrow one. If not, it should still prove to be some excellent climbing for the day

For planning purposes, how many campsites are reserved for our group. Robin has #2, I have a site and Margaret has a site. Anyone else?

Rei in boulder is having a garage sale starting at 7am saturday (tomorrow). This is a great way to pick up nice last-minute cheap gear since everything is 50% original price, but there are no returns.

I can make a campground reservation, but I usually sleep in my
car, as it is quiet and warm. I am concerned about a place to park.
I can also take others with me, if anyone wants to carpool.

Also, I have a small RV with a outdoor shower (hot water!) that I can tow. I am willing to allow anyone to use the outdoor shower. Is there is a place to park that ??....anyone have any ideas ?

Renee! Sorry I haven't returned your call. Yes, I'm still interested in riding together :) I will definitely pitch on gas, and I have my own tent! Thank you!!! :)

Heyo! I'm looking to join this trip and I'd like to do some trad leading. I have a full rack plus some additional top-rope/sport gear but don't have a partner. Been climbing about 4 years of trad and I'd be looking to lead 5.6/7 with someone I don't know very well. Anyone else looking for a partner or have a good idea how to find one for this meetup?

    June 3, 2013

    • Renee

Hi David...I would be happy to be your second. I can belay a lead up to 5.10+, clean, set anchors, and all the regular stuff. Broke my ankle after lead climbing school, so haven't done much.

Regarding the carpooling question, if folks are interested we can set a time/place to meet on Friday, June 14th. With other groups, I suggest the Woolley Mammoth Park and Ride lot (I-70/Morrison Road exit) Section BB (across from the Conoco Station). Thoughts? Comments? Yea or nea?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
