I started kiting as a young adult. I don't remember ever flying a kite as a child. I don't even remember watching anyone else fly a kite when I was a child. I would have loved the childhood experience and memory of flying a kite.
I'm not a frequent kiter. :-) I don't think I've flown a kite in the same place twice. Always a different place. Just where every my husband and I happen to be when there is a windy day, and we have a kite with us, and we're near a public park.
I love to be by the ocean or a large body of water (river or lake). Maybe the Montreal area One Sky One World kite flying event, because that is near my family, and they have a beautiful lake in that area.
Why did I want to join this group? I love the annual One Sky One World international kite flying event on the second Sunday of October! I want to be ready for the 24th annual OSOW in Stapleton's Central Park on October 11, 2009.
From the artists and designers who create the kites, to the kite flying individuals and teams, kite flyers are a fascinating, fun, and inspirational group of people. This Rocky Mountain Kite Association (RMKA) group has the added advantage that the group includes the kite flying and designing founder of the One Sky One World international kite fly for PEACE, Jane Parker Ambrose! What a thrill to be able to volunteer to support an annual international fun-filled-focus on the topic of PEACE right here from our Denver location on the 2nd Sunday of October! Thank you Robin McCracken for founding and leading the RMKA!
