Hi. I father of one, recent college grad (non-traditional age), astrophysics space/ aerospace nerd. I love kites, computers and nerd stuff. We have 3 dogs and I have about 8 kites, one really crappy landboard, and I love building stuff.
When I was a kid, but I only became obsessed with it about 1.5 years ago (mid 2011)
David Lorentz Park, Dove Valley (Arapahoe County Park), and Cornerstone Park (all in Denver/Littleton/Englewood)
Somewhere with wide open land, water or snow spaces and steady wind. For snow, interesting terrain would be great, too. My mother has a place down in Walsenburg, CO and the wind really whips down there. There are a ton of wide open spaces and friendly people who will let you fly there on their land. Only two problems: 1) it's often incredibly gusty and 2) I can never find anyone to go with me.
erm... good, I think. I'll be keeping my eyes on you whippersnappers, though, so no shenanigans :).
Welcome Dave! Looking forward to meeting you at one of our flys.
Welcome Dave! You have come to the right spot. I think you will be very pleased with how active we are in the Denver area. We fly every Sunday at a few different places in the area. We kind of rejected our Clement Park site...too small, not good wind, and too far for the majority of people.
Make sure and get out to one of our Sunday flights and become a member on "[masked]" so you can see our daily conversations!
